Competition Rules
- The competition is open to any pupil, aged 11-18 on or before Monday 4th October 2010, who is in secondary education in Scotland.
- All photographs must be taken in Scotland.
- Entries can be of any size but remember if we are to reproduce the image successfully we need a good quality print for judging.
- Photographs can be from film, digital or mobile cameraphone and may be either colour or black and white.
- Images may be digitally enhanced to remove blemishes or scratches, but they should not be manipulated. Entrants can enhance the photograph to make it brighter, clearer etc, but the content must not be manipulated. Focus Environment judges reserve the right to exclude any image they believe to have been excessively treated to alter its authenticity.
- Please provide in around 30 words the reasons for your choice of image. Why did you take that shot?
- Each entry MUST be accompanied by a clearly completed entry form. If you need additional forms, please photocopy or upload entries via this website and follow the online instructions.
- Each photograph must include a label on the back with the pupil’s name, age, school, title of photograph and the entry category. Do not write directly on the back of the photograph.
- Photographs should not be framed or mounted and if mailed put in a stiffened envelope to prevent bending.
- All entry forms must be authorised by a teacher.
- All entries will be acknowledged.
- Entries will only be returned after the competition if a stamped addressed envelope is enclosed.
- Families of the staff of Chevron, BTCV scotland and SWT are not eligible for entry to the competition.
- Copyright of the photograph(s) remains with the photographer, but it is a condition of entry that the organisers reserve the right to reproduce them for exhibition or other publicity purposes.
- Winners negatives, transparencies, CDs or digitally taken images may be required to be held onto for up to 12 months by the organisers.
- Cameraphone images may be entered but a quality print must also be included.
- Closing date for entries; Monday 4th October 2010, winners will be notified thereafter.
- Judges reserve the right to move photos between categories.
- If you take a photograph with people in it, you need to get written consent from them or a parent or guardian if they are minors to say we can publish the photograph should you be a winner.
